We weren't altogether surprised to learn FOX would adapt UK breakout drama 'Broadchurch,' even poaching series lead David Tennant to recreate his character from the original version, though now the remake has a few shockers to its name. Not only will FOX's version go by the name 'Gracepoint,' but 'Breaking Bad' star Anna Gunn will take the lead role opposite Tennant, joined by Oscar-nominee Jacki Weaver.

The Emmy-winning Gunn will take the 'Gracepoint' role of Detective Ellie Miller, as portrayed on the original series by Olivia Colman. Gunn's Miller appears as happily married wife and mother in line for a promised promotion, only to have the job go to outsider Detective Emmett Carver (Tennant). When a tragedy hits the sleepy seaside town of Gracepoint, Miller ends up working her first murder case alongside Carver, making her examine the town in a harsh new light.

Meanwhile, Weaver will portray Susan Wright, a mysterious new woman to Gracepoint, living in a trailer park and working various odd jobs. Portrayed by Pauline Quirke in the original series, the character keeps her dark history hidden with a veil of anonymity.

As for 'Gracepoint' itself, Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein will executive produce the series alongside original 'Broadchurch' creator Chris Chibnall, who will also take scripting duties on the pilot. Shine America's Carolyn Bernstein and Jane Featherstone have also been attached to act as executive producers.

For its part, UK’s ‘Broadchurch’ became the country’s most watched series of the year, with an April finale that garnered over 10 million viewers.
