Dwayne Johnson Posts a Monstrous Sneak Peak From the ‘Rampage’ Set
We must now expand our description of prolific actor, producer, businessman, and pumper of muscles Dwayne Johnson to include ace social-media marketer. No wonder Johnson has become one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood; not only is he a hugely likable (not to mention literally huge) screen presence, he’s better at hyping his movies on social media than just about anybody. See, for instance, Johnson’s latest tweet about his upcoming disaster thriller Rampage:
Rampage is the big-screen adaptation of the beloved ’80s video game. In the game, players controlled one of three monsters as they demolish their way across the country. Although Johnson could convincingly play a giant, rampaging destroyer with very few special effects, he’s got a different part in the movie. Here’s how he described the plot in a previous Instagram post:
I head up an anti poaching unit out of Rwanda. My best friend is a rare albino gorilla named, George. Very bad people infect George, an alligator and a wolf with a serum. All three animals grow at an unprecedented rate. Their size, speed, agility and violent aggression is off the charts. They go on a deadly rampage and want to destroy the world. George not happy. Me not happy. When animals like you, they lick you. When they don't like you, they kill you. I will hunt down the bad people who did this to my best friend. And when I find them, I will not lick them.
Now you might look at this picture and say it looks almost exactly like a shot of Johnson from The Rundown (except he had hair back then), or even Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which just so happened to be directed by Rampage filmmaker Brad Peyton. I say: What’s your point? Johnson has a type, and it is dude in khakis surrounded by chaos and debris. And he is very good at what he does. Rampage opens in theaters on April 20, 2018.
