Nope, ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Still Won’t Crossover With ‘The Walking Dead’
Shared universes wouldn’t be any fun without the potential for crossover, but don’t expect Fear The Walking Dead to start jumping time or continents to hook up with Rick Grimes. Season 2 will again stay clear of the main series, according to Fear The Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson.
The second season of AMC’s undead companion series will see the characters taking to the sea, production even moving to Baja, Mexico to accommodate as much, upping the difficulty of sharing any kind of story link with The Walking Dead itself. Cast and crew assembled at Paley Fest this past weekend to answer questions of the coming Season 2, which saw Erickson firmly shooting down the prospect:
No. That’s the one straight answer I can give you … The chronology is so far apart, and there’s a continent between them.
Indeed, while the passage of time isn’t exactly clear within the world of The Walking Dead (one would presume a few years at least, despite the aging disparity between characters like Carl and Judith), Fear continues to operate in a more immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, one that would require a hefty time-jump to bridge.
In the meantime, Fear The Walking Dead will premiere its second season on April 10, one week after The Walking Dead Season 6 finale. Should the two ever crossover, or are both tales worth keeping separate?
