‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Finale Extended to 90 Minutes
Extending event episodes of The Walking Dead to a full 90 minutes isn’t exactly new, but when it comes to the Season 6 closer, and a major arrival already confirmed, we’ll need all the time we can get. A new report not only reveals the Season 6 finale title, but also its extended runtime.
The Walking Dead spoiler junkies over at The Spoiling Dead confirmed with AMC that the upcoming April 3 finale will run a full 90 minutes, just as the Season 5 finale and Season 6 premiere had similarly aired. The report also claims that the Season 6 finale will bear the title “Last Day on Earth.”
You’re warned of a few minor spoilers from here on out, but despite the frequency of The Walking Dead extending its premiere and finale episodes, the extra time almost surely owes to the arrival of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, the series’ new major big bad. In the comics at least, Negan’s first appearance coincided with a major death brought on by Negan’s barbed-wire bat “Lucille,” whipping fans in a frenzy to figure out who might suffer the same fate on AMC.
In the meantime, The Walking Dead will continue this Sunday with “Twice as Far,” followed by next week’s penultimate Season 6 installment, “East.”
