FOX Confirms ‘24: Legacy’ Reboot With All-New Characters
A ways back, we’d heard that FOX had an eye toward another 24 revival, albeit without Kiefer Sutherland’s famous Jack Bauer at the helm. Consider that officially come to pass, as FOX orders a pilot for 24: Legacy, casting new leads with little chance of returning any of the past 24 favorites.
Per FOX’s official announcement, the new series would follow “a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back—compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.” Where Live Another Day shortened the format however, 24: Legacy will feature the classic real-time 24-episode cycle, split screens and all.
The series will center on African-American lead Eric Carter, along with a female ex-head of the CTU, leading a new iteration bent on thwarting “the potential to activate new sleeper cells in the United States and radicalizing Americans.” Don’t expect any actual 24 returns just yet, while Sutherland himself is confirmed to produce, rather than take part.
Original producers Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz will also return as executive producers, though FOX has only ordered a pilot for the moment. Will 24 fans gravitate to Legacy as much as the prior series?
