We're still tepidly curious to see what FOX comes up with in remaking UK breakout 'Broadchurch' as 'Gracepoint' with 'Doctor Who' star David Tennant once again in the lead, though at least its supporting cast continues to garner attention. Nick Nolte is the latest famous name to take up residence in 'Gracepoint,' but who from the original story will he play?

FOX confirms today that the former 'Luck" star will take the series regular role of Jack Reinhold, a stubborn, unmarried, and willful man who has lived in Gracepoint for two decades, and runs a kayak rental business on the beach, as well as the local wildlife observation program, where the murdered boy in question had previously volunteered. Nolte joins a cast that includes David Tennant, recreating the role from the UK version, alongside 'Breaking Bad''s Anna Gunn, 'Silver Linings Playbook''s Jacki Weaver, and Michael Peña.

Set in an American town, FOX’s adaptation of ‘Broadchurch’  will follow the original’s story of the tragic and mysterious death of a young boy found on a beach, one surrounded by rocks and a cliff from where he may have fallen. The actual cause of his death remains unsolved, though the seaside town at the tragedy’s base becomes the heart of a major police investigation and a nationwide media frenzy.

Original Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall will executive produce the U.S. version and write the premiere episode, while Dan Futterman (‘Capote’) and Anya Epstein (‘In Treatment’) have joined in the roles of executive producers and showrunners. Also on board are Shine America’s Carolyn Bernstein (‘The Bridge‘) and Jane Featherstone (‘The Hour’). For its part, UK’s ‘Broadchurch’ became the country’s most watched series of the year, with an April finale that garnered over 10 million viewers.

Well, what do we think? Far more bankable than in previous years, does Nick Nolte make a worthy addition to FOX's 'Broadchurch' remake? Tell us if you'll watch 'Gracepoint' when the series debuts in likely 2014!
