Though director Jon M. Chu may not be anyone's first choice for an awesome action movie, every piece of advertising for 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation makes one forget how mediocre 'G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra' was. There's three things that could account for that: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Bruce Willis. and few returning cast members. There's a new trailer, check it out...

Machinima got the exclusive first look at the trailer, and it's introduced by The Rock (which is now the way of exclusive trailers). This builds on all the footage we've seen before, and tells the same betrayal narrative, though it does give an extra moment or two to Channing Tatum who (one assumes) leaves the film rather quickly. This trailer isn't as rock and roll as previous TV and teaser spots, that's for sure, which changes the flavor - this isn't selling fun in the same way.

What it does offer is way more shots of the tech of the G.I. Joe and Cobra teams, and if you grew up with the toys, the presence of a hovercraft definitely sends a tinge of recognition. The film opens June 29, and it looks big and dumb and fun, and we're in.
