Though he will be turning sixty years old, it looks like Godzilla still has some life left in him, even after Roland Emmerich had his way with the beast. Warner Brothers has just announced that 'Godzilla,' the Gareth Edwards reboot, will be hitting screens May 16, 2014, and it will be hitting in three dimensions.

That's a ways out, but the film is already scheduled to go up against 2014's big May titles, including 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,' 'Pixels,' and 'The Good Dinosaur.' Basically, if you want to set a date for your tentpole, you have to do it at least two years in advance.

Warner Brothers seems pretty happy with the title, as they've already shown a teaser clip at this year's Comic-Con, and trotted director Edwards out to talk about the reboot, even though there's been no casting as of yet, which means they haven't started shooting. But they have a release date, so everything else will just have to sort itself out.

3D is now confirmed, and that basically means the film will also be prepared for Imax as well. Such is the way of all blockbuster titles now. And by 2014, there will likely be more Imax screens. Way of the future.
