The Chain Will Keep the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Super Bowl Spot Together
Welcome to the Guardians of the Galaxy, Yondu. Hope you survive the experience!
The Guardians are back for Vol. 2, and the film is objectively bigger this time, as its Super Bowl spot show with an enlarged roll call of heroes. In the trailer above, Michael Rooker’s Yondu is now officially part of the team, and he gets a formal welcome from Baby Groot (Vin Diesel). And by formal, I mean Baby Groot curses at him in Groot. But it’s adorable because he’s a little baby. Who doesn’t love profane baby alien trees? They’re the best.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, written and directed once again by the first film’s mastermind, James Gunn:
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
In addition to returning cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will welcome newcomers Nathan Fillion, Sylvester Stallone, and Kurt Russell. The film will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
