‘Hail, Caesar!’ Clips Show Off Channing Tatum’s Singing Sailor and Scarlett Johansson’s Sassy Starlet
January is a pretty dead month for new releases, but February has a few exciting prospects, chief among them Joel and Ethan Coen’s Hail, Caesar! The filmmaking duo are back with their first film since Inside Llewyn Davis, and while it also boasts a musical element, these new clips prove that the Coens’ latest is more comedy than drama.
In the first clip above, Channing Tatum’s Gene Kelly-esque character performs a sailor-flavored musical number and shows off his wonderful singing skills, though the scene stops short of delivering some of his better-known dance moves. And in the clip below, Scarlett Johansson’s brassy Hollywood starlet gets exasperated with Josh Brolin’s character as he annoyingly insists that she find a new husband.
Brolin stars in Hail, Caesar! as studio fixer Eddie Mannix, who makes a living by keeping his celeb clients and their personal lives out of the tabloids. When a famous actor is kidnapped by a mysterious group known as The Future, it’s up to Mannix to rescue the leading man.
Hail, Caesar! also stars George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill and Frances McDormand, and hits theaters on February 5.
