We heard rumblings of the proposed 'Halo' TV series from Microsoft's Xbox and producer Stephen Spielberg for quite some time, the last of which suggested the serial adaptation would land on Showtime. Now, with the announcement of the 'Halo 5: Guardians' game, new word suggests the TV series will bow around the same period, fall 2015.

Few details are yet known of the 'Halo' TV series, though 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross included this snippet of development amid news of the latest 'Halo' video game, also targeted for a fall 2015 release. Said Ross:

2015 won’t simply be the year of “Halo 5: Guardians,” it will also be a year that offers us a unique opportunity. The opportunity to invite old friends and new audiences into that universe through the 'Halo' television series, launched as a unique collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business. A series that will stand alone, as well as complement and enrich the game experience. We’ll have more to share on the 'Halo' television series as we near its projected fall 2015 release.

We previously heard that Showtime was nearing a deal with Microsoft that would see episodes of the series airing on the premium cable network first before moving to Xbox. Microsoft was also said to be close to a deal with a pair of showrunners for the series, under an expansive bible developed by screenwriter Stuart Beattie, though the deal is not envisioned as a straight-to-series pickup.

We'll bring you the latest 'Halo' TV series news as it trickles out, but in the meantime, what do you think? Will Microsoft and Spielberg make it to the fall 2015 finish line? What would you want to see from the game adapted for the small screen?
