Julia Roberts Heads to TV For ‘Today Will Be Different’ Limited Series
TV seems to have stolen a bit more fire from Olympus, as Julia Roberts becomes the latest Hollywood A-lister making the leap to series TV. The Normal Heart star will lead an adaptation of Maria Semple’s Today Will Be Different, as developed with Annapurna’s new TV venture.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, no network has yet scooped up the limited series, which comes from former Mad About You and Arrested Development writer Semple. Roberts herself will produce the series through Red Om Films, in addition to starring, while Semple, Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle serve as executive producers. So reads a synopsis from Deadline:
Today Will Be Different follows Eleanor Flood, admittedly a bit of a mess, as she decides that today is the day to tackle the little things that she has been neglecting. Of course, life gets in the way of success as a fake-sick son, errant husband, and a former colleague with bomb-dropping memoir derail her modest plan. Taking place over the course of one day, Today Will Be Different is about reinvention, sisterhood, and how sometimes it takes facing up to our former selves to truly begin living.
There’s no telling exactly where the series will end up, but stay tuned for the latest.
