‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Will Feature a Deleted Scene From the First Movie
If there’s a silver lining to 2017, it’s that Hollywood is gearing up for an excellent year of action blockbuster sequels. Over the next few months, we can expect follow-ups to Guardians of the Galaxy, John Wick, Furious 7, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and, of course, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And often neglected from these lists — but no less exciting from an action fan’s perspective — is Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, one of the more ridiculous action movies to be released in the past few years.
From casting Julianne Moore as the villain to adding Elton John in a mysterious role, Kingsman: The Golden Circle promises to deliver more of the bright, comedic, and ultra-violent action sequences we loved from the first. And according to a Den of Geek interview with star Taron Egerton (via Heroic Hollywood), we might also see some footage from the original film that didn’t make the cut. Here’s the relevant quote:
I think I can say that there’s a deleted scene from the first one, that I personally thought shouldn’t have been cut, and that’s now in the second film. But what it is… I don’t think I can say.
Best guesses? We know that Colin Firth is making a return to the franchise despite a pretty overt death scene, so it’s possible that the new footage could explain how Firth’s character survived. Maybe he’s a clone. Maybe he was in a coma. Maybe he’s a time traveler! One of the fun things about this franchise is that nothing is off the table; while many action movies have gravitated towards a more serious and grounded tone, The Kingsman could introduce a multiverse element to the franchise and none of us would bat an eye.
In addition to the returning cast members, Kingsman: The Golden Circle will also feature Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Halle Berry and shoot its way into theaters on October 6, 2017.
