Hollywood moves in waves. Earlier this year, Nintendo broke download records around the world with its popular Pokémon GO game, kicking off a renewed interest in Japanese manga and cartoons as adaptable commercial properties. Almost immediately, Legendary Entertainment jumped into the fray with the announcement that they would be producing a live-action Detective Pikachu film. Now, not to be left behind, Lionsgate has made renewed promises that its live-action adaptation of Naruto will be coming soon.

Lionsgate first announced its live-action Naruto film all the way back in July of 2015, but this latest update comes to us courtesy of Shonen Jump (via Heroic Hollywood), a weekly English-language magazine dedicated to manga and Japanese entertainment. Over the weekend, Shonen Jump attended an annual manga convention in Japan that included a Naruto panel; during the Q&A section, the panelists confirmed that Lionsgate did indeed have Naruto currently in development.

Those unfamiliar with the manga or the popular cartoon series can read the full synopsis below  —  as someone who has never seen the show or read the graphic novels, the best I can offer you is that it seems to be about ninjas  —  but it’s also worth mentioning that all 220 episodes of the original four seasons of Naruto are currently available on Hulu. If this latest update makes you want to seek out the show for the first time  —  or dive back in for a semi-annual re-watch  —  then feel free to visit Hulu’s Naruto homepage at this link.

Here is the full plot synopsis for Naruto, courtesy of Hulu:

The Village Hidden in the Leaves is home to the stealthiest ninja in the land. But twelve years earlier, a fearsome Nine-tailed Fox terrorized the village before it was subdued and its spirit sealed within the body of a baby boy — Naruto Uzumaki!
