M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Wayward Pines’ Taps Melissa Leo Opposite Matt Dillon
Along with 2014's '24: Live Another Day' and a second season of 'The Following,' FOX has continued its commitment to limited series with next year's M. Night Shyamalan-adapted thriller 'Wayward Pines,' starring Matt Dillon. Now we've learned 'The Fighter' Oscar-winner Melissa Leo will join Dillon in the eerie new series, but who will the veteran actress play?
Though the series may not debut until fall 2014, FOX's M. Night Shyamalan-helmed limited series thriller 'Wayward Pines' has made its second major casting, recruiting Melissa Leo as the primary female antagonist of the series, opposite Matt Dillon. Based on the novel of the same name by Blake Crouch and written by ‘The Playboy Club’s Chad Hodge, ‘Wayward Pines’ follows Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Dillon) as he travels to Wayward Pines, Idaho on a mission to find two missing federal agents. The series is said to be in the vein of ‘Twin Peaks.’
Leo will take the role of Pam, an intense and unpredictable nurse who first takes care of Ethan when he wakes up in the Wayward Pines hospital, but soon shows more interest in harming than in healing. Nurse Pam and Ethan become rivals over the course of the series, with the nurse's true role in the town proving much deeper than it initially appears.
Shyamalan's credibility will soon be put to the test with Will and Jaden Smith's 'After Earth,' but what say you? Could 'Wayward Pines' prove a return to creepy form, now that Melissa Leo has joined the cast?
