A few weeks ago, ScreenCrush broke the news that 'MacGruber' director Jorma Taccone was interested in bringing his spectacularly mulleted comedy hero back to the big screen despite the first film massively underperforming (let's face it, bombing) at the box office. Yesterday, Jeremy Smith from Ain't It Cool News asked MacGruber himself, Will Forte, about the situation and he received a more realistic response.

"As for MACGRUBER 2, it's very much in the works. We're just... no, I'm kidding. Jorma mentioned it. He was really tired one morning giving an interview, and he said something stupid about it. Believe me, we would love...we had so much fun doing that. We're proud of it, and we jokingly talk about the sequel all the time. But I don't think anybody in their right mind would give us any money for it."

This is an icy cold knife to the heart for those who have actually seen 'MacGruber' and know that's one of the funniest movies in years. It's 'Anchorman' level funny, folks. If you haven't seen it, go rent it right now and watch your pleasant surprise morph into adoration over 90 hilarious minutes.

So, in short, Taccone and Forte want to make a sequel, but there is no reason other than charity for any studio to pony up the funding. As happy as it makes us to know that they're rightfully proud of their movie (and grateful for the constant support of their fans), some helpful millionaire needs to realize that the world needs more 'MacGruber.' Well, it's either that or Kickstarter.

Hey, does anyone want to start a Kickstarter?
