The poster geniuses at Mondo have had considerable commercial and creative success with their licenses to release brand new posters for classics like 'Star Wars,' 'Back to the Future' and 'Game of Thrones.' So what if we told you they had big plans for a series of posters for 'The Simpsons?'

Awesome and exciting, right? Well, that's the good news anyway...

We sat and talked with Mondo's Creative Director, Justin Ishmael and Olly Moss, one of their finest artists, and when asked about the one property they'd love to get their hands on, they immediately started talking about 'The Simpsons.'

Says Moss of their plans:

We really want to do 'The Simpsons.' So badly. I feel like there's so much scope with that universe that would allow us to do something really interesting. We were talking about how we wouldn't do posters for 'The Simpsons' we'd be doing posters from 'The Simpsons.' Like 'McBain' posters. I think that'd be great. I'd love to do it.

A Mondo designed poster for 'McBain IV: Fatal Discharge?' Or for 'The Shinning?' It sounds like a dream come true for 'Simpsons' fans. But now for the bad news: it's not going to happen.

At least not anytime soon. Ishmael explains:

Someone else has the rights to it so we can't do it. They don't want to have multiple people having the license.

That license looks to be taken by Pyramid America, the makers of such posters like this Bart Simpsons "Bad to the Bone" poster, which look like something Spencer Gifts sells in the back of their stores. And that's all well and good but what Mondo wants to do with the license would be completely fresh and new. So c'mon Fox - allow two licenses for your Simpsons posters and let Mondo work their magic.
