‘New Mutants’ Director Josh Boone May Have Just Revealed the Lineup

While The Stand is on hold due to a rights issue, filmmaker Josh Boone is keeping busy with plenty of other projects, including another Stephen King adaptation (Revival), a new film based on Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, and — last but not least — New Mutants. There’s been plenty of speculation regarding the official roster in the X-Men spinoff, but if Boone’s latest series of Instagram posts is to be believed, his mutant team may have just been revealed.

Boone posted a series of photos (below) featuring Wolfsbane, Magik, Mirage, Cannonball, Sunspot and Warlock. It looks like these are the characters in his New Mutants lineup, and all of those names — save for Warlock — were included in a recent rumor about the project. That rumor was (obviously) denied by Fox, but the same report also suggested that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is in talks to play Wolfsbane, with The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik.

Williams all-but-confirmed her involvement in an interview, in which she said that she’d love to appear in New Mutants, but she ultimately wasn’t allowed to say anything regarding the project.

James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier and Alexandra Shipp’s Storm (who makes her debut in X-Men: Apocalypse) are also rumored to have roles in New Mutants. Boone’s Instagram posts don’t include photos of those characters, but here are the rest of the mutants:

Fox has yet to give New Mutants a release date, though they did recently claim a couple of upcoming dates for untitled Marvel projects — and it’s looking more and more likely that Boone’s X-Men spinoff is one of them.
