‘Orphan Black’ Reveals a New Clone in First Final Season Clip
What, you didn’t think we’d get through the fifth and final Orphan Black trip without at least one new clone for Tatiana Maslany to play, right? Get a look at Helena’s murderous past (or is that future?) in a first clip from the final season.
At first glance, the above clip of Helena killing one of her clone sestras could be seen as the character’s murder streak in Season 1. Then again, an accompanying synopsis from BBC-A teases that Helena is actually “up to old habits” for mysterious reasons:
As the end draws near for the award-winning clone drama, Orphan Black, BBC AMERICA released today a first look at the jaw-dropping action set to light the season ablaze. In this mind-bending scene, it appears Helena (Tatiana Maslany) is up to old habits that can only spell death for her sisters. Questions arise as to why this is happening, what is driving her and who did she kill?
In addition to the extended episode synopses, here’s how BBC-A describes the final season:
The clones have been through it all together. From assassinations, detrimental illnesses, monitors and accidental murders to suburban drug fronts, kidnappings, male clones and biological warfare – there isn’t anything this lot hasn’t experienced. But through it all, they’ve remained united in their love and mission to keep each other safe at all costs. They’ve sacrificed their families, the loves of their lives, and any true sense of normalcy – all for the chance to liberate themselves from forces much bigger than any one of them. Now, they must all fight for the family they’ve chosen, for a new future and ultimately, for freedom.
The fifth and final Orphan Black season has also added Watchmen star Stephen McHattie in the critical role of Neolution’s 170-year old founder, P.T. Westmoreland, along with Elyse Levesque as Detective Engers, a dirty Neolution cop who is a true believer; Andrew Moodie as Mr. Frontenac, Rachel’s new mysterious consultant; Simu Liu as Mr. Mitchell, Kira’s new homeroom teacher, and Jenessa Grant as Mud, an eclectic young islander.
Orphan Black Season 5 will premiere on June 10, so check out the first trailers below, and stay tuned.
