The first official clip for 'Pacific Rim' has been released, and Warner Bros. is taking a decidedly different route with promotion. Rather than focus on all the big robots-vs-monsters action we've seen in the (amazing) trailers, this piece of footage gives us a tense and intimate moment between stars Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba.

As seen in the clip, Hunnam confronts Elba, who tells him there are two rules: One, don't touch Idris Elba, and two, don't touch Idris Elba. Now get back to work saving the world from monsters, Charlie Hunnam, or you're out of a job! But seriously, we're happy to see some of the film's more personal moments.

'Pacific Rim' also stars Charlie Day and Rinko Kukichi and hits theaters on Jul. 12. The film, directed by Guillermo del Toro, takes place in a not-so-distant future when alien creatures (also known as "Kaiju") rise from the depths of the oceans to attack humanity. A group of soldiers pilot giant "Jaeger" robots to fight off the creatures and, hopefully, save our world from ultimate destruction.

[UPDATE: A second clip has been released through MTV, still refusing to reveal any footage of a monster-robot battle. Here, Rinko Kikuchi's fighting skills are put on display. Check it out below.]

The film will be released in IMAX and 3D, and as well 2D for all you traditionalists out there.
