Boy, that Jason Katims just can't get enough of 'Friday Night Lights.'  And who could blame him?  absent a 'Friday Night Lights' movie to direct, the former 'FNL' and current 'Parenthood' show-runner is about to add his sixth alum to the on-the-bubble parenting drama for a major recurring season 4 role, but as whom?  Will he have clear eyes, and a full heart?  Can he lose?

TVLine reports that former 'Friday Night Lights' actor Matt Lauria has been added to the roster of 'Parenthood' season 4 for a "major, recurring role" as a returning soldier from Afghanistan who bonds with fellow war vet Zeek (Craig T. Nelson).  Lauria joins fellow 'Friday Night Lights' alumni Minka Kelly, Michael B. Jordan, Derek Phillips, Angela Rawna and Jeff Rosick in appearing under former show-runner Jason Katims.

Coincidentally, Lauria's 'Friday Night Lights' character Luke closed out the series by leaving to enlist in the Army.  Lauria isn't the only 'Friday Night Lights' Dillon alum to make a TV career for himself, as Jesse Plemons recently started his own stint on AMC drama 'Breaking Bad. '

Also joining the fourth season of the NBC series is former 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and 'Men of a Certain Age' star Ray Romano, in an unnamed role. Romano will play a photographer and former photo journalist who befriends Lauren Graham’s character Sarah and complicates her relationship with Mark (Jason Ritter).  And just in case you’re unfamiliar with the series, from the official press release:

'Parenthood' is a one-hour drama inspired by the box-office hit of the same name. This re-imagined and updated Universal Television/Imagine Television production follows the trials and tribulations of the very large, very colorful and imperfect Braverman family. The series stars Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger, Savannah Paige Rae, Max Burkholder, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Miles Heizer, Mae Whitman, Xolo Mariduena, Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.

What say you?  Lauria's appearance be the best 'Friday Night Lights' catch yet?  Who would you like to see appear on the series?  Give us your thoughts on the show in the comments!
