NBC’s ‘Parks and Recreation‘ put some literal and figurative madness into its sixth season finale, tossing a Jon Hamm cameo into the brisk final sequence that saw the Pawnee gang jumping through time to 2017. Now, with ‘Parks’ final bow on the horizon for 2015, NBC confirms that the ‘Mad Men‘ star will return in his role as the ever-incompetent Ed.

Update - 4:30 P.M. - Well, look who else is back! TVLine reports that both Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe will return as Ann Perkins and Chris Traeger  for a grand total of one episode from the final 13-episode run. Thanks, guys!

Original article follows.

Although Hamm’s character Ed was fired for incompetence moments after his first appearance (Leslie Knope somehow managed to find an employee worse than Gary Jerry Larry Terry), Entertainment Weekly confirmed with showrunner Mike Schur that we’d see Ed in passing at least one more time:

If I have my way, every episode where you see events that take place before that moment will include a shot of [Hamm] doing something insanely incompetent.

Elsewhere, we know of ‘Parks and Recreation’'s seventh and final season that Nick Offerman‘s real-life wife Mullally will put in at least one more appearance as Ron’s ex Tammy 2, reviving an aborted season 6 plot that saw the trouble-making librarian coupled with Leslie’s nemesis Councilman Jamm (Jon Glaser). Additionally, Natalie Morales will reprise her role for multiple episodes as Tom’s ex Lucy, having not been seen since the second season, while Werner Herzog will also put in an appearance, for some reason.

We’ll return to the three-year time jump begun with season 6 finale “Moving Up“ with next year’s premiere installment “2017,” but in the meantime, what say you? Are you ‘Mad’ about ‘Parks and Recreation’ coming to a close? What other returning stars beside Jon Hamm would you want to see?
