You might have read Joss Whedon's thoughts on the lack of female superhero films out there yesterday. While we're not going to disagree with him, we thought this was a perfect time to shine a light on some of the current favorite badasses in both movies and TV. We can't just pick one as our favorite, but why don't you tell us who your favorite is?

On the big-screen, there's Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), bow-and-arrow-wielding Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), 'Underworld''s leather-clad Selene (Kate Beckinsale), 'Resident Evil''s indestructible Alice (Milla Jovovich) and the smallest killer you're ever likely to encounter, Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz).

But female butt-kickers aren't relegated to the big screen. Television has a long history of bringing us tough gals, and currently there are a wealth of options. The sword-swinging Michonne (Danai Gurira) on 'The Walking Dead'; the sexy Nikita (Maggie Q); 'Game of Thrones' plucky Arya Stark (Maisie Williams); 'Sons of Anarchy''s matriarch, Gemma Morrow (Katey Sagal); and the take-no-crap Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) on 'Dexter' are just a handful of the great female TV characters on TV we would not want to mess with.

Of course, there are plenty of other candidates out there, but we think this is a solid group. So who is your favorite? Vote in our poll below; if your choice isn't listed, let us know who your No. 1 gal is!
