‘Repentance’ Trailer: Forest Whitaker Has Lost His Marbles
It's always interesting to see what the year's crop of Oscar hopefuls follow-up their buzzworthy performances with. For Forest Whitaker, it's the horror-thriller 'Repentance' with 'Captain America 2' star Anthony Mackie, and you can get a taste of the crazy to come with the first trailer.
Whitaker keeps saying he's not crazy, but he's probably crazy in the first 'Repentance' trailer, debuted by Yahoo Movies. While wowing critics this year with his portrayal of White House butler Cecil Gaines in 'Lee Daniels' The Butler,' the actor now plays a man haunted by his past.
From the official description:
An earnest life-coach/author, Thomas Carter, is mysteriously abducted by a deranged client, Angel Sanchez, who delves into Thomas' teachings and uses his spiritual messages of Karma - action and reaction (Vipaka), against him to terrorize him and his family for their past sins.
Crazy stuff, literally.
'Repentance' also features Sanaa Lathan ('The Best Man Holiday') as Mackie's onscreen wife, Mike Epps as Mackie's brother, Adella Gautier as Whitaker's ghostly mother. The film is slated for release on February 28, 2014.
