Ocean's Eight, the all-female heist comedy spinoff of Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven, might be getting another new cast member. For the past few weeks the film has been collecting star after star like a poker player scooping up thousand-dollar chips, and multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Sarah Paulson is the most recent to be in talks to join the fun.

The ensemble cast who has signed on so far includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carter, and Mindy Kaling, with Gary Ross set to direct and Soderbergh producing. All we know about the plot apart from the obvious (it’s a heist film, there’s gonna be a heist involved somehow) is that according to a source for The Hollywood Reporter some of the action is set to take place at the Met Gala. So maybe instead of stealing casino money they’ll be stealing... fashion? Seems an obvious choice for a female-driven film like this, but there’s still a long way to go before the premiere, so we’ll see.

The female-fronted blockbuster is a pretty cool new trend in Hollywood, and while the incessant buzz surrounding this summer’s Ghostbusters steamrolled its chance of standing apart from the haters, so far Ocean’s Eight isn’t ruining any childhoods yet. It’ll be fun to see a bunch of ladies taking the lead in a witty, fast-paced crime caper. Who knows, with Paulson on board, this could actually be the Carol heist spinoff we’ve all been waiting for, but just didn’t know we wanted yet. Actually, now that I think about it, this needs to happen. Someone get Soderbergh on the phone right now.
