Don't tell J.J. Abrams, but it looks like his 'Star Trek's Scotty has defected from the Trekkies to the realm of 'Star Wars!'

Simon Pegg, esteemed UK actor/comedian and 'Star Trek' star has been revealed to provide one of the voices in this Friday's upcoming installment of animated series 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' "Bounty!"  According to the Entertainment weekly report, the 'Shawn of the Dead' and 'Spaced' funnyman will lend his voice to the role of bounty hunter Dengar, first seen way back in 'Star Wars' film 'The Empire Strikes Back.'

Pegg, a longtime 'Star Wars' fan and outspoken critic of the prequel trilogy will be playing a younger incarnation of the well-worn bounty hunter, who counts himself among bounty hunters Boba Fett, Aurra Sing and Bossk when female force-powered baddie Asajj Ventress comes a-callin' to protect a valuable shipment being sent through the interior of a planet via hoverrail.

Says Pegg of his dream-casting, "Dengar is one of the elite.  If you’re on Darth Vader’s bounty hunter speed dial, you are the best in the galaxy.  It was a total honor to play this mysterious, hard man from my favorite Star Wars movie, 'The Empire Strikes Back.'"

EW also has an exclusive clip to check out from 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'  "Bounty," featuring Pegg as Dengar alongside Asajj Ventress, which debuts in its full form this Friday night on Cartoon Network at 8:00 / 7:00 p.m. Central!

What say you, 'Star Wars' and 'Star Trek' fans?  Do you like Simon Pegg more in the J.J. Abrams-verse, or have you long dreamed of seeing the famous fanboy take to a galaxy far, far away?  I'm more of a 'Shawn of the Dead' man myself, but I'll be tuning in to check out Pegg this Friday night!
