SNL Season 42 Adds First New Cast Member With Mikey Day
It’s been curiously quiet on the front of SNL Season 42, particularly with an October 1 premiere looming overhead, and several significant departures. Now, a new Day may be on the horizon, as Season 42 sets its first major addition in writer Mikey Day.
Per Vulture, comedian and writer Mikey Day will join Season 42 beginning with the October 1 premiere (which lacks an announced host as of yet). Day’s addition follows the ouster of Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah and Jon Rudnitsky, but for his part, Killam seems reasonably on board with the addition:
Day had a hand in writing several favorite sketches like “Close Encounter” or “Farewell Mr. Bunting,” even co-writing Killam’s Brother Nature after joining the SNL staff in 2013.
Elsewhere of Season 42, Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider will take over as co-head writers from Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker, while returning cast will include Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, Sasheer Zamata, Michael Che, Pete Davidson and Leslie Jones.
We’ll likely know our first few hosts before long, but how does SNL Season 42 seem to be shaping up so far?
