J.J. Abrams has long loved keeping secrets from his audience, and 'Star Trek Into Darkness' is no exception. The film is slated to come out May 17, 2013, which means we may yet see a teaser soon (undoubtedly we'll get one before the end of the year). But for now Abrams is only showing three frames.

Abrams was on The Conan O'Brien show, and said that he asked Paramount if he could show something and they agreed to three frames. From the frame capture above, it doesn't appear that Abrams was lying, that does appear to be Zachary Quinto's Spock in a volcano. How this ties into what little we know is not obvious in any way.

Currently, fan temperature seems to be erring towards a mild negative (the title and the threat that Benedict Cumberbatch's character might be Khan haven't gone over well), but the 2009 film was beloved by many, and turned 'Star Trek' fandom around, so if this delivers similar fun no one will care about the title. It used to be that 'Star Wars' was the pop culture favorite, and that 'Trek' was only loved by nerds. But the last 'Trek' was exciting, sexy and filled with interesting characters, which is something that can not be said for the majority of the prequel trilogy.
