The Rock on a ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ Role: “Bring It On!”

So 'Star Wars: Episode 7' won't star Jason Statham, we know that. But as one action star takes himself out of the running, another throws his hat into the ring. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wants a part in the new 'Star Wars' film and isn't afraid to say it, declaring "Bring it on, J.J.!"

The Rock is busy promoting his upcoming film 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation,' a sequel to a film he didn't star in. This, plus his starring roles in 'Journey 2: Mysterious Island' and 'Fast Five' led one movie producer to call him "franchise Viagra." If the 'Star Wars' franchise needed some Viagra, Johnson is offering up his services to director J.J. Abrams. The action superstar told News Limited:

I'm gonna call J.J. and you're gonna help by printing it and I'm gonna be in Star Wars! I'm ready for Star Wars. Bring it on, J.J.!

We can't really imagine The Rock playing a major character in 'Star Wars: Episode 7' but we have to say, Abrams and team could do worse than Johnson when looking to cast some of the ancillary 'Star Wars' characters. Perhaps The Rock as a new version of Boba Fett (he bears a slight resemblance to Temuera Morrison, the actor behind Boba's father Jango Fett)?

Whatever the case, we don't envy Abrams' position of having to cast his 'Star Wars' movie when virtually every actor not named Jason Statham wants in on the new trilogy.
