Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is already open in Disneyland and opens in days at Walt Disney World. But that’s not the end of the Star Wars stuff coming to the Disney theme parks in the years ahead. Disney still has to unveil the first ever Star Wars hotel — which they call the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. At the big Disney Parks panel at D23 Expo 2019, Disney showed off some brand new details about the place — which is basically a cruise ship in space (in Orlando).

The “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” is a “two-night itinerary where all guests arrive and depart together, similar to Disney Cruise Line.” While you’re on board the Halcyon, you will become part of “a new type of immersive experience.” You check in and then head into a “Launch Pod” that takes you into outer space and up to the ship, where every window has a changing view of space.

The ship will be populated with Star Wars characters like Rey, Chewbacca, and Kylo Ren. There will be unique Star Wars inspired experiences; concept art showed guests playing a holographic card game, and the control room where you can test out the ship’s defense capabilities. And of course your stay will include an “excursion” to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando. One of the biggest attractions will undoubtedly be the chance to wield a lightsaber (presumably not a dangerous one) in a sparring session with a training remote like the one Luke Skywalker dueled with in the very first Star Wars.

The concept art looks pretty cool — there’s no VR helmet or simulator. It will be interesting to see how they pull off that working lightsaber effect...

Here’s how the Disney Parks Blog describes the Galactic Starcruiser:

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a new, first-of-its-kind vacation experience where guests will check in for a two-night adventure aboard a glamorous starship.  Once onboard, guests will interact with characters and become active participants in stories that unfold around them on their galactic journey.

Disney didn’t announce when the Galactic Starcruiser will open, just that it was coming soon to Orlando.
