Star Wars movies are huge at the box office, and The Last Jedi will be no different. Back in 2015, The Force Awakens made off with $247 million on its opening weekend alone, and early predictions have The Last Jedi coming pretty close to matching that number.

The long range forecast from Box Office Pro has The Last Jedi courting a $215 million opening weekend, which would give it a nice cushion for the following weeks and might give it the second-highest opening weekend of all time (behind The Force Awakens, of course). Box Office Pro has the movie making $742 million during its entire theatrical run, which is just 20 percent less than The Force Awakens’ number at $936 million.

It’s not unusual for a sequel to make a little less at the box office, but also keep in mind that this is a long-range projection, and the movie is still almost two months away. It might seem like the only thing everyone’s talking about right now, especially after the release of that most recent trailer, but there are probably plenty out there whose radar The Last Jedi has yet to reach. It’s only a matter of time before Lucasfilm rolls out their giant Target displays and Snapchat filters. Let’s just hope the websites don’t crash again like they did when tickets went on sale so we can all get our seats.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15, 2017.
