New ‘Star Wars’ Themed Movie Theater Opening Just in Time For ‘The Force Awakens’
Sure, you could just go see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in a regular, old movie theater, but where would be the fun in that? Does your movie theater have a life-size Emperor’s throne that can fire a Death Star laser? No, I didn’t think so. Luckily, just in time for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to hit theaters, a new Star Wars-themed movie theater is opening and it looks like one of the coolest places in the United States to see a movie.
Alamo Drafthouse is opening their new Omaha, Nebraska location later this month and wanted to create something unique for this new location. So, they did exactly that and constructed a fully Star Wars-themed theater lobby that includes a 10’ Death Star, Emperor Palpatine’s throne and Imperial stylings throughout. And to get even cooler, when you sit in the throne, you can actually push the button that fires up the Death Star and blasts its superlaser.
Now, this is not just some temporary installation built around the mega-opening of The Force Awakens; this will be a permanent fixture in the Omaha location. Probably a good thing, considering Disney and Lucasfilm are going to be releasing Star Wars films until we die.
Unfortunately, Omaha is a galaxy far, far away for most moviegoers reading this, but if you’re ever in the area, you have to make sure to check it out. Check out some pictures from this awesome new theater below.
