Christopher Nolan has made it a habit of offering exclusive extended previews of his films for IMAX customers — he shoots all of his movies in the format these days — and it looks like his next thriller, the mysterious Tenet starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, is no exception. According to Trailer Track, the MPAA just approved and rated a “Tenet Prologue” for screening at IMAX theaters.

More details from their report:

Following a tradition established with The Dark Knight back in 2007 to highlight its first-time fiction feature use of IMAX cameras, an extended prologue sequence for the film has been rated tonight by the MPA. The runtime of the piece is still, as of yet, unknown – TDK and The Dark Knight Rises pieces were the opening 10 or so minutes of the film, while the Dunkirk one was a ‘short film version’ of parts of the film’s first act. You can read more about Nolan’s prologues in a retrospective piece we did last year.

The speculation is that the Tenet prologue may appear before IMAX screenings of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. (The Dunkirk IMAX preview appeared before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story a few years ago.) Wherever it shows up, Tenet opens in theaters next summer on July 17.
