‘The Neon Demon’ Red Band Trailer: Elle Fanning Is a Dangerous Girl
The first trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon debuted a few days ago, but if you've been itching to see more footage from the Drive director's new avant garde horror flick, there’s good news for you. This UK red band trailer is a little shorter, but it does offer brief glimpses of additional scenes, as well as a quick cameo from Keanu Reeves — who very clearly does not like whatever it is that he sees.
Elle Fanning leads The Neon Demon as a young aspiring model who moves to Los Angeles to pursue a career, like so many aspiring models before her. It's not long before she's immersed in a dangerous culture obsessed with beauty, desperate to retain their youth at any price. That sounds as if Fanning is the victim of the story, but the trailers have been implying just the opposite.
And although it boasts imagery inspired by European and Italian horror films like Suspiria, the trailers for The Neon Demon also feature the stylish aesthetic you’ve come to expect from the director of Drive and Only God Forgives.
When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.
The Neon Demon also stars Abbey Lee, Christina Hendricks, Bella Heathcote and Desmond Harrington, and hits theaters in June.
