As shown in the trailers for The Night Before, Jonathan Levine’s latest film centers on best friends played by Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie, who attempt to have the most booze-soaked, drug-fueled final Christmas hurrah before their responsibilities get in the way. But there’s a little more to the plot than just that. MTV has released the NSFW opening sequence from the upcoming comedy, which features some poetic narration from Tracy Morgan to set up the film’s premise.

It’s not just about getting totally obliterated — The Night Before centers on the Christmas tradition between three friends, which started when Ethan (Gordon-Levitt)’s parents died, inspiring his pals to lift his spirits with some boozy spirits. With Mackie’s Chris on the verge of becoming a very famous actor and Rogen’s Isaac set to become a father, the trio get together to make their final Christmas outing the most epic yet — which includes locating the Nutcracker Ball, a mysterious super-bash that’s proven incredibly elusive throughout the years.

The clip above offers a basic setup, but what makes it more charming is the narration from Tracy Morgan, who delivers his own version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” rhyming his way through exposition so we can get to the actual movie.

The Night Before also stars Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, Michael Shannon, Lizzy Caplan and Jason Mantzoukas, and hits theaters on November 20.
