The Flash and Supergirl have been hotbeds for former DC super-stars in guest roles, though The CW’s own Smallville has contributed relatively few. Tom Welling in particular has been reticent to return to DC TV, but the erstwhile Clark Kent may be interested in a Flash-y cameo after all.

It wasn’t long ago that former Smallville frenemies Welling and Michael Rosenbaum rattled off reasons not to return to The CW’s DC lineup; Welling in particular noting that Supergirl or Arrow had too distinct a tone for him to pull focus. Supergirl already added its own Superman (not that Welling should necessarily play Clark again), though the actor reportedly now tells Nuked the Fridge that he’d be open to appearing on The Flash:

I am willing to go on The Flash and I have a few ideas on how it can happen if the network asks me. In fact, I think I can make it happen.

For the record, it isn’t clear if Welling shot down the majority of cameo appearances under a pretense he’d reprise his Smallville role, which clearly wouldn’t be the case for Supergirl. The Flash, on the other hand, frequently dabbles in exactly the alternate universe shenanigans that offer Welling a chance to portray whomever he’d wish, so maybe he has interest in another reality’s Man of Steel after all. Either way, pick up the phone, CW!

In the meantime, Welling will join another DC universe of sorts on FOX’s Lucifer, while The Flash returns for Season 4 on October 10.
