Paramount’s plans for the continuation of the Transformers franchise are certainly ambitious — earlier this year the studio announced a new writer’s room which will plot the future of the series, including sequels and spinoffs, like Transformers 5. So far we know that Mark Wahlberg is returning for the sequel, though not much else is known about the film, which may or may not be directed by Michael Bay. But some potential new plot details have been revealed, giving us an idea about where the sequel will take Cade Yaeger and the Autobots in their next outing.

Christian Post caught up with Mark Ryan at the Wings and Wheels convention in the U.K. — Ryan is the actor who lent his voice to Jetfire in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Lockdown in Age of Extinction. Ryan revealed a few possible plot details for Transformers 5, which he says will feature Cade Yaeger (Wahlberg) teaming up with the Dinobots to defend Earth from new antagonists.

As for Optimus Prime, the last time we saw the heroic Autobot leader, he was heading off into space to locate the creators of the alien robot race — this may very well take Optimus Prime to the Quintessons, god-like entities who created both the Autobots and the Decepticons, and the ones who were responsible for sending Lockdown to capture Optimus Prime.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, but it hardly seems like Ryan would have a reason to lie. Given the plots of the previous films in the franchise, this info sounds pretty reasonable.

Transformers 5 is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017.
