‘Whiplash’ Gets the Muppets Mashup You’ve Been Waiting For

It was only a matter of time, really, but that doesn’t make this new Whiplash mashup video any less awesome. Some clever human beings have edited together footage from Whiplash with footage of Animal from The Muppets playing drums, obviously, and the results are super funny and super cute and absolutely wonderful.

The video first appeared on Huffington Post UK, and was created by David Schneider, Handface and Andrea Mann. This cute mashup takes the memorable scene of (Oscar winner!) J.K. Simmons’ Fletcher, the abusive and demanding music instructor, getting annoyed with his student for rushing, dragging and not being quite his tempo. Only this time his student is Animal, the rowdy Muppet drummer who can’t really be tamed or reasoned with 99 percent of the time.

The mashup is appropriately brief and doesn’t go on for long enough for the concept to wear thin, unlike some other mashups we’ve seen which have a tendency to get a little too indulgent. We’ve seen a ton of people online wondering when we might get a Whiplash and Muppets mashup, so it’s about time that someone delivered.

Whiplash is currently out on DVD and Blu-ray, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you should probably rectify that situation immediately.
