Smokey Finally Shows His … Silhouette in New ‘X-Files’ Poster
FOX’s 2016 X-Files revival hasn’t exactly been shy with trailers (seriously, you can brave Gotham tonight for yet another), yet one of the new series’ deepest mysteries has yet to show its face. The famous Smoking Man is definitely back in the newest official poster for the series, but might we finally see his villainous visage tonight?
TVLine debuted the newest official poster for the revived X-Files, which itself showed off its premiere installment at New York Comic-Con recently. Of course, the question remains what brings ol’ Smokey back in the picture, considering his rather infamous Season 9 end, but for now, we’ll leave the mysteries to Mulder and Scully.
Thus far, FOX’s X-Files return has confirmed the Lone Gunmen, Annabeth Gish, Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis to reprise their roles beside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, while Community star Joel McHale will play a conservative pundit who tasks Mulder and Scully with investigating a woman claiming to have been abducted (The Americans star Annet Mahendru). Additionally, comedian and superfan Kumail Nanjiani will play a small role, while Flash star Robbie Amell and Six Feet Under alum Lauren Ambrose will play a pair of confident new FBI agents.
On the creative side, writers and producers Chris Carter, Glen Morgan and Jim Wong will return to write and direct, with Frank Spotnitz also eyed to pitch in, and composer Mark Snow also aboard.
Plenty more details will arise before the official January 24 premiere, but rewatch the X-Files trailer below, and prepare for the truth to return in 2016.
