‘The X-Files’ Revival Adds Comedian Kumail Nanjiani
The X-Files’ 2016 return hasn’t revealed very much beyond a few photos and scant teases of new footage, but a number of familiar faces will at least populate Mulder and Scully’s revived investigation. Comedian and Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani is the latest to sign on for The X-Files event series, but as whom?
Nanjiani himself revealed the casting over Twitter, admittedly gushing over his involvement in the revered series, particularly the opportunity to act opposite David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. In particular, it seems the Silicon Valley star will appear in a brief capacity as an animal control officer, judging by the tweets:
Thus far, FOX’s X-Files return has confirmed Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis to reprise their roles beside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, while Community star Joel McHale will play a conservative pundit who tasks Mulder and Scully with investigating a woman claiming to have been abducted (The Americans star Annet Mahendru). On the creative side, writers and producers Chris Carter, Glen Morgan and Jim Wong will return to write and direct, with Frank Spotnitz also eyed to pitch in, and composer Mark Snow also coming aboard.
Plenty more details will arise in the meantime, but who else beside Nanjiani might crop up in the 2016 return?
