‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Clip Lets Rose Byrne Explain This Whole Apocalypse Thing
Rose Byrne’s Moira MacTaggert has some ‘splainin’ to do. No, really. She has an explanation she would like to share with you in the latest clip from X-Men: Apocalypse. Not nearly as clever as last week’s viral video featuring narration from George Takei, the new clip features Byrne describing Oscar Isaac’s big bad and what makes him so big and bad.
Hopefully Byrne — who hasn’t been seen since First Class — serves a greater purpose than “exposition dump delivery service.” It would be a bit unfortunate if Moira’s return was wasted on giving James McAvoy’s Professor X and Lucas Till’s Havoc the TL;DR version of Apocalypse’s origin story.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
