'X-Men' fans revolted when our beloved Professor X was obliterated in front of our eyes by the Phoenix in 'X-Men: The Last Stand.' Although 20th Century Fox is entitled to completely change the comic book story line, the way in which Xavier met his end was unbecoming of his legacy.

However, there's been some talk as of late suggesting that we haven't seen the last of Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier in the 'X-Men' franchise just yet. And now, we know for sure that this will in fact become a reality... at least, according to what the actor has said. But will it be for the upcoming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'?

The rumors of Stewart's return as the Professor all started a few days ago when Bleeding Cool asked the 'Star Trek' icon if another 'X-Men' movie was planned for his future. At the time, all he gave was a minor head nod, but it was all the initiative fans needed to promptly freak out.

Then at a recent panel for the 2012 Montreal Comic Convention, reported on by Newsarama, an eager fan brought up the question again during a Q&A and his response this time was, "... yes, I'll be reprising." At first, he teased the crowd by saying, "I think there is every possibility," and then proceeded to list off female costars "Halle Berry! [Storm] Famke Janssen! [Jean Grey] Rebecca Stamos! [Mystique] Anna Paquin! [Rogue]," and his male costars Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto).

But the question is, will Stewart's Xavier character be coming back for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' or another unknown 'X-Men' movie installment? And what of these other 'X-Men' stars? Well, unless a reboot of the storyline for the primary trilogy (which saw the demise of Charles Xavier, Jean Grey and Cyclops) is in the works, it's more likely cameo appearances are in store for the next 'First Class' series.

When Bryan Singer, who produced and directed the first two 'X-Men' films, revealed the next 'X-Men' movie title, fans of the comic book immediately brought to mind the original story line, which centers on a teenage Kitty Pryde (Shadow Cat) who's warned by her future self of an assassination attempt on Senator Robert Kelly by Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. That means time travel is a definite possibility for this film, though the official plot has yet to be released. Also up for debate is the involved of the former 'X-Men' castmembers Stewart listed.

What do you think? Are you pumped to see Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier? Who else do you want to see in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'? We have our list.
