Way to go! Because of the $40 million box office success of the the spoof horror movie 'A Haunted House,' Open Road Films has given the go ahead for 'A Haunted House 2.'

The official announcement for a sequel was made via the Open Road Films Twitter, saying:

On top of that, producer Rick Alvarez stated, "We look forward to getting started on the next chapter of what we hope will become an incredible franchise." ...a franchise? Do you think we have a rival 'Scary Movie' on our hands? Honestly, we hope not. Despite the fact that too many people spent their hard-earned money to see the first one, critics in general were not impressed with it -- some called out the film's blatant homophobia and cheap gags.

'A Haunted House' starred Marlon Wayans and Essence Atkins in a spoof on found-footage that poked fun at horror flicks like the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise. 'A Haunted House 2' production is scheduled to start this summer.
