Our first real look at Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 arrived with Comic-Con 2014, but even then, details were relatively light on the who, what and where of ABC's 'Avengers'-adjacent series in its second run. Now, we may have a heading, as Adrian Pasdar is confirmed to reprise his role as typical Hulk-baddie Glenn Talbot in the September premiere, while Kyle MacLachlan will pop up as a "Doctor" with major ties to one of the cast. How very Strange!

News of either actor's appearance in 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 emerges from TVLine, who confirmed io9's earlier report of the mustachioed colonel's return in the premiere. Meanwhile, where the original article points toward the 'Twin Peaks' and 'Portlandia' star MacLachlan popping up in episode 2 as "The Doctor" (no, not that one, or that one), TVLine much more accurately states that MachLachlan will in fact play Skye's father!

You know, the one who was all gooey in the closing moments of first season finale "Beginning of the End." Remember? It was pretty gross.

Elsewhere of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2, we know from Comic-Con 2014 that 'Xena' star Lucy Lawless will play veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabel Hartley, while Nick Blood will join as mercenary and comic STRIKE character Lance Hart. ‘Dollhouse’ star and Whedon favorite Reed Diamond will play Daniel Whitehall (Secret Wars’ Kraken) as a Hydra baddie, while still uncast is the role of comic superhero Mockingbird, also known as Barbara "Bobbi" Morse.

Plenty to chew on for the moment, but what say you? Are you glad to have Colonel Talbot back in play, even if no Hulk follows with him? What strange sorcery might Kyle MacLachlan conjure as Skye's father, or this "Doctor" we've heard so much about? Tell us in the comments what you want to see when Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' returns for season 2 on September 23!
