‘American Horror Story’ Season 3: Taissa Farmiga Confirmed to Return
If 'American Horror Story: Asylum' is to prove any kind of judge, it'll be a long time yet before 'American Horror Story' season 3 releases many real details, or footage of the FX horror-drama's third year. We know that a number of 'Horror Story' alum from "Murder House' to 'Asylum' are bound to return, now confirmed to include season 1 vet Taissa Farmiga, but who will the young lass play? Will her fate prove as tragic as in season 1? Get the latest 'American Horror Story' season 3 scoop inside!
We still know very little about 'American Horror Story' season 3 (or 'Asylum' for that matter, considering what "Madness Ends" left unexplained), but at least one more familiar face is confirmed to return. Joining her season 1 co-stars Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga has officially been confirmed for a role in the new season, airing this fall on FX.
The first time around Farmiga played the role of young Violet Harmon, troubled teen under parents Ben and Vivien (Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton), and love interest to the ghostly Tate Langdon (Evan Peters). Series creator Ryan Murphy recently spoke out on the decision to bring back Farmiga, and her central role in the upcoming 'Romeo and Juliet'-type story:
I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.’
Murphy has revealed only select details of the FX drama’s third season, including that season 3 would have a love story focus akin to the one between Violet and Tate in season 1. The season will be set in modern day across several cities, occasionally dipping back into the past as the narrative requires. Murphy also previewed that Peters' role will likely prove that of a “sobbing psychopath” once again, while Jessica Lange would be a “glamour cat leading lady” of sorts.
