With the talent of ‘The Shield’ creator Shawn Ryan at the helm, and the promise of a recurring guest role for original film series star Eddie Murphy, we’d be hard pressed to think that CBS’ forthcoming ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ TV series will have a difficult time making it past the pilot stage. And while CBS won’t announce a decision for some time, the network has continued casting the pilot with ‘Argo‘ star Sheila Vand as the female lead, and opposing detective for Brandon T. Jackson’s Aaron Foley. Get the latest on the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV series inside!

We won’t know for some time whether or not CBS opts to pick up the pilot of its ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV series, but the pilot is at least getting easier on the eyes. Deadline reports that ‘Argo’ star Sheila Vand has joined that adaptation’s pilot, taking the role of Leila, a fellow Beverly Hills detective.who gave up her privileged lifestyle for more independence.

As Deadline points out, the character was written as Persian to better represent the 20+% Iranian-American population of Beverly Hills.Vand joins a supporting cast that so far includes comedian Kevin Pollak and former ‘The Office‘ player David Denman as Brad Fullmer, Aaron Foley’s straight-laced partner.

Produced by Eddie Murphy and ‘Last Resort’ show-runner Shawn Ryan, the forthcoming ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ series follows Axel Foley’s son Aaron Foley working to “take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous, while simultaneously trying to escape the shadow of his larger than life father.”

Still no word on Judge Reinhold, but we’re keeping our bananas peeled. Will you tune in for the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ TV series?
