Dave Chappelle has definitely come back to the limelight over the last year, between SNL hostings and new Netflix specials, but with numbers like these, you’d think he never left. Netflix reveals that Chappelle’s dual standup premieres became their most-viewed comedy specials ever.

Netflix still declined to release exact figures, but told shareholders in a first-quarter letter that “The triumphant return of a comedy legend in Dave Chappelle: Collection 1 was our most viewed comedy special ever.” The same was true in international markets, the company noted, even among other high-profile comedians.

The March 21 specials The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas garnered mostly rave reviews, save for some of the comedian’s off-color jokes about the LGBT community, and the transgender community in particular. Chappelle will film a third special specifically for Netflix at an unknown date, having provided Netflix with the first two from his personal vault.

Chappelle’s specials count themselves among Netflix’s major push into standup, including similar high-profile comedy deals for Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Tracy Morgan, Louis C.K., Sarah Silverman, and Jerry Seinfeld (including Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee).

You can inflate Netflix’s ego even further by checking out both Dave Chappelle specials streaming (trailer below), and stay tuned for news of the third.
