We’ll be skeptical of a Deadwood reunion until the credits roll, but stars Kim Dickens and Dayton Callie may have improved prospects. The former Deadwood residents say HBO has contacted them regarding availability, which could confirm the long-awaited movie’s production.

Current and former Fear The Walking Dead stars Dickens and Callie had a chance to chat with TVLine at Comic-Con 2017, in which Dickens said of the long-awaited HBO reunion that “They’ve called for our availability.” Callie too said his representation had been contacted, though HBO has not made any official confirmation of a Deadwood greenlight, nor would they offer comment on the actors’ claim.

Last we’d heard, HBO boss Casey Bloys claimed not to have seen any scripts for David Milch’s long-gestating Deadwood revival, though W. Earl Brown called the completed version “stunning.” Dickens also previously testified to lunchtime snippets with her former Deadwood boss, wherein he’d read from the “stacks” of scripts for a potential revival.

Of course, it’d still be up to Milch to gather the prolific cast (sadly without Ralph Richeson or Powers Boothe), which in three seasons included Callie, Brown, Dickens, Ian McShane, Justified lead Timothy Olyphant, Jessica Jones alum Robin Weigert, Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn, Paula Malcolmson, Molly Parker, and many more. Deadwood ran from 2004 to 2006, showcasing the rise of Deadwood, South Dakota from frontier gold prospecting camp to fully-annexed territory.

We’ll see if HBO comes forward with more official word, but what should we hope for from a Deadwood revival?
