While no decision has yet been made about a final season of 'Dexter,' fans of the Showtime serial killer series were elated to learn that 'Dexter' season 8 would premiere in June ahead of its usual September airdate, helping to launch the network's new Liev Schrieber drama 'Ray Donovan.' Along with the early launch date, Showtime revealed two new recurring characters crucial to the final season, one of which has now been identifed as actress Charlotte Rampling. Will the new blood be the one to finally take 'Dexter' down? Find out the latest 'Dexter' season 8 casting news inside!

Even if 'Dexter' season 8 proves to be the final year for the acclaimed Michael C. Hall drama, no one knows exactly how Dexter Morgan's story will end. That end might feel just a bit closer today, as Entertainment Weekly has revealed that actress Charlotte Rampling ('The Duchess,' 'The Avengers' [1967]) will take a pivotal role in the new season as Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a “formidable and whip smart” neuro-psychiatrist in her late 50s.

According to reports, Vogel specializes in working with young psychopaths and aids the police in profiling criminals in unusual ways. Her story is said to have a large impact on the season, but it remains to be seen what criminals Miami Metro might bring her in to profile. Could the specialist be called to investigate the deceased (or at least missing) Captain Maria LaGuerta? Will she see Dexter (or now Deb) for who they really are?

Yet to be cast is the role of former police officer Jacob Elroy, a 40s, handsome and straightforward private eye likely also tasked with catching LaGuerta’s true killer, assuming Dexter and Deb didn’t cover it up as well as they’d hoped.

Well, what say you? If indeed 'Dexter' season 8 proves to be the series' last, do you think Charlotte Rampling's character will be the one to bring Dexter to justice? How do you think the series will end? Give us your predictions in the comments, and tell us what you want to see from the June 30 premiere of 'Dexter' season 8!
