Likely the first thought anyone had after news that The Flash Season 3 would feature Tom Felton in a regular role was the meta-reaction from Harry Potter geek Cisco. Now, new details and photos from Felton’s appearance confirm some tongue-in-cheek references to Felton’s Draco Malfoy past, as well as his “Flashpoint” arrival.

Entertainment Weekly scored the first photos of Felton’s CSI tech Julian Dorn from Season 3's second episode, featuring the character seemingly at odds with Barry and Joe. Producers have called the character a “direct result of Flashpoint,” now sharing a lab with Barry, while Andrew Kreisberg and Felton joked that Harry Potter references were very much in the cards:

Kreisberg: Tom Felton is portraying a character on our show — he’s not portraying Tom Felton. Cisco will continue to make pop culture references. We’re, generally speaking, not afraid to have a little bit of a meta-moment.

Felton: I’m so excited for the references. I don’t doubt the talent and creativity of the writers. I’ve got a feeling they’ll come up with some real good ones. I hadn’t thought about me saying it — I assumed it would come at me from Cisco — but maybe I should give it to Cisco. Maybe he should misquote something and I could correct him.

In the meantime, so reads the October 4 premiere synopsis:

“Flashpoint”

Barry (Grant Gustin) is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash.

We’ll have more on Season 3 of The Flash soon, but take a look at the footage and photos below, and stay tuned for the October 4 premiere!
